General Decorating Ideas
Some points you might like to consider:
- space available: this is especially important in relation to the number of letters in the word or name. If you have a large blank wall, and a 3 letter child’s name, you might want to consider one of our larger sizes.
Mia shown here on the right in 8 inch size. Or, you could contact us to discuss having even larger letters cut like the picture on the left.
Likewise, for a greater amount of letters, and a restricted space, you’ll have to carefully consider not only the height of the letters, but also your font choice….

- font: our fonts are sized by letter height, but there are differences in the widths of the fonts. We’ve illustrated here the differences in width of an 8 inch word in Whimsical font compared to Dohnut font
Don’t forget though, you can always contact us for advice regarding sizing, not only can we make suggestions, but we can also manipulate fonts to make them your required size.

- which font should I choose?
Your font choice will have a big impact on the overall feel of your wooden letters. Think about what look you’re trying to create, and what will compliment the existing décor of the room. Here, we’ve taken the same word, in the same size and colour, but used different fonts, to illustrate the affect font choice has over the overall design.

Some points to think about:
Do you want your letters to have a huge visual impact on the room, as your use of colour, especially a bolder palette than the rest of the room, will really make your letters “pop”
Or, are you after a softer look, or to tone to the existing décor? For a traditional feel, use paler colours or white, teamed with one of our more classic fonts

Some ideas for using colour and pattern:

Using the same pattern in different colourways |

| How about alternating plain and patterned letters? |
Or, using the same colour on different font types. You could even experiment with sizes. |
- Finally, it sounds really obvious, but do consider the colour of the wall you’ll be hanging your letters on!
